Grammy Predictions
February 15, 2016
The 58th Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by LL Cool J, will premiere 7 p.m. tonight on CBS and will include some major fan favorites like Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.
The Grammys are an exciting time for music lovers everywhere as fans gather around to see who will take home the prize. Kendrick Lamar leads the night with 11 Grammy nominations.
It was difficult to narrow it down to one, but there has to be a winner.
Here are my Grammy predictions for the following categories:
Record of the Year
Since I am a big fan of Swift and The Weeknd, it’s hard for me to decide who will win this category. However, I have been a fan of Swift’s music since her “Teardrops on My Guitar” days in 2006.
Although she has strayed away from her country days, I still — shamelessly — rock out to her music. Swift has grown into a pop sensation. Although I like The Weeknd and Bruno Mars, I think the crown belongs to Swift this time.
Song of the Year
While all the nominated songs in this category are enjoyable and on my playlist, I predict “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth to be the winner.
As much as I enjoy Swift’s catchy songs and Lamar’s honest lyrics, actor Paul Walker’s sudden death proved the “Fast and Furious” series would never be the same without him. “See You Again” managed to dominate radio stations everywhere.
Best New Artist
I appreciate Meghan Trainor’s effort to mimic ‘50s-style doo-wop music, but I still would have to give the Grammy to Tori Kelly. She has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard.
She has proved to be more than just an Internet sensation by appearing on Seventeen Magazine and signing with Capitol Records.
