Valentine’s Day Dinner Specials

By Northern Star staff

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and local restaurants are getting ready to serve DeKalb’s cutest couples. Here are what some restaurants in the area are doing to celebrate the holiday:

Fanatico

Fanatico, 1215 Blackhawk Road, is an Italian restaurant where a lot of people celebrate Valentine’s Day, said Fanatico manager Simo Spaniu.

Fanatico will have food specials throughout the weekend, Spaniu said. There will also be many drink specials to accommodate everyone’s interests.

“Not everyone drinks wine or beer, so we will have a variety of specials,” Spaniu said.

Fanatico is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Hillside Restaurant

Sixty-two couples have met, and later got married, at Hillside Restaurant, 121 N. Second St., since it opened in 1955, Hillside Restaurant owner Mary Wilson said.

Hillside Restaurant will feature Cajun food, lobster ravioli, steak, ribs and a variety of German and Italian food during Valentine’s Day weekend. There will also be Valentine’s Day deserts available like homemade cherry chocolate cake.

Wilson said customers should expect to pay around $20 to $30 a person for drinks, an entree and dessert.

“[Hillside Restaurant] will break your heart, but not your pocketbook,” Wilson said.

The Junction Eating Place

The Junction Eating Place, 816 W. Lincoln Highway, will be having a Valentine’s Day weekend dinner for two special.

Chris Baharimis, The Junction Eating Place manager, said a rib-eye steak and shrimp meal will cost around $36, and a shrimp or chicken Alfredo meal will cost around $22.

Each meal will come with a choice of either ice cream or a brownie.

The Junction Eating Place is open from 6-3 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 6 a.m. to midnight on Sunday.
