College of Law to hold Parentage Act talk

The Family Law Society and the International Law Students Association will hold “The Parentage Act of 2015 – What’s New?” noon to 1 p.m. today in Swen Parson Hall, Room 170, Francis X. Riley Courtroom.
This meeting is to inform citizens about the new Parentage Act of 2015, which rewrote the Parentage Act of 1984 and includes changes regarding gender neutrality, presumption of parentage and empowering courts to disallow DNA testing, according to the Illinois Senate Democrats’ website.
The talk will also cover any other changes to Illinois family law.
This event is free and open to the public. Attorney Margaret Bennett will present the talk, according to NIU Law’s website. Lunch will be provided.
