NIU will kick off the 2016-17 football season against the University of Wyoming on Sept. 3, in Laramie, Wyo.

The 2016-17 NIU football schedule was released by NIU Athletics on Monday, showing five away games and six home games, including the game against the University of Toledo on Nov. 9 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.

Football (8-6, 6-2 MAC) ended its last season with a 55-7 loss to Boise State in the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 23.
