An off-campus home invasion was reported to have occurred at 9 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Varsity Boulevard, according to an NIU safety bulletin.

The victim reported the suspect followed him into his apartment and displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s phone and wallet, according to the safety bulletin.

The suspect is described as a male in his early twenties, approximately six feet tall and 160 pounds with dark skin, dreadlocks and a goatee and wearing black clothing and a black and gray winter jacket.

DeKalb Police is investigating the incident.
