Maxwell putting up career numbers

By Patrick Smith

Senior tight end Desroy Maxwell is in his final season as a Huskie, and is looking to finish the year on a positive note.

Maxwell has put up career numbers in 2015, catching 19 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns, all of which are career highs. He now has 39 career catches for 416 yards and four touchdowns.

Maxwell had his best career game this season against UNLV. He caught four passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed twice for eight yards, which was his career high in rushing yards.

Maxwell has mainly been featured over the years as a blocker in the Huskies’ offense. NIU’s running game has run for over 3,000 yards in three of the last four seasons and Maxwell has missed just two games in his four years at NIU.

The Huskies have gone 8-5 this season including a loss in the MAC Championship to Bowling Green on Friday. They will play in the Poinsettia Bowl against Boise State at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 23 in San Diego.
