Farm Animal Rights Movement to visit NIU
October 5, 2015
An animal rights group will screen undercover footage from factory farms during a visit to NIU this week.
Farm Animal Rights Movement, a group dedicated to ending animal abuse through education and grassroots activism, will offer students $1 to watch a video that documents the treatment of farmed animals, according a Farm Animal Rights Movement new release. More than 80 percent of the 320,000 people who have seen the video have committed to changing their diets, according to Farm Animal Rights Movement.
“Consumers have the right to know where their food comes from, and the 10 Billion Lives Tour will expose people to the harsh reality of animal agriculture,” said Michael Webermann, the organization’s executive director. “Viewers often tear up or become angry after watching the video, and turn that passion into action by making food choices that are consistent with their values.”
The viewings will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Martin Luther King Jr. Commons. Viewers will watch the video in a customized truck with TV screens.
