Rauner appoints NIU Trustee

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner named Tim Struthers to the NIU Board of Trustees on Friday.

The Board of Trustees is the seven-member governing body of the university. Struthers fills a vacancy left by former trustee Anthony Iosco.

As the Illinois Market President of the First National Bank of Omaha, Struthers brings 35 years of experience in general market and administrative duties. He also serves on the boards of the NIU Foundation, the DeKalb Sanitary District, the Illinois Council on Economic Education and Grace Lutheran Church.

Struthers has acquired a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA from NIU and lives in DeKalb.

The Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings throughout October and November. The next committee meeting will take place at 3 p.m. Oct. 14 in Altgeld Hall, Room 315.

The next Board of Trustees meeting will take place at 9 a.m. Dec. 10 in Altgeld Hall, Room 315. These meetings are open to the public.
