Football (2-1, 0-0 MAC) fell to No. 1 Ohio State (3-0) for a final score of 20-13.

Coming into the game, the Buckeyes were a 34.5 favorite over the Huskies, but the showdown proved to be the complete opposite.

The Huskies took a quick 7-0 lead after an interception by sophomore cornerback Shawun Lurry, setting up a five-yard touchdown run by junior wide receiver Aregeros Turner.

Ohio State switched quarterbacks midway into the second quarter after Cardale Jones threw a second interception. Jones was benched for J.T. Barrett, who would remain the starter throughout the game. Going into halftime, the score was deadlocked at 10-10.

NIU remained in striking distance late in the third quarter after another interception by Lurry, but junior quarterback Drew Hare threw an interception on the very next play, which gave the Buckeyes a 20-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

NIU would go on to have many opportunities in the fourth, but couldn’t overcome the deficit and eventually fell to the Buckeyes 20-13.
