A Stillman Valley man faces charges of looting and attempted looting in Fairdale after police said they found donated items in his home Sunday.

DeKalb County Sheriff deputies searched the home of Richard Burtch, 45 and found donated items, including tubes, medicine, toiletries and food, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office news release. Deputies said they also found three wheelbarrows and more than a dozen rakes, shovels and brooms.

Burtch initially went to Fairdale to help a family member clean up a house that had been destroyed during an April 9 tornado and later returned to collect supplies for himself, police said.

All supplies were collected and sent back to Fairdale residents, police said.
