NIU professor captures tornado in northern Illinois

Meteorology professor Walker Ashley will explain how an April 9 tornado could have played out at an upcoming symposium.

The symposium will focus on tornado and weather preparedness in light of the April 9 tornado. Ashley followed and took photos of the tornado, which killed two people and wrought destruction in Fairdale and parts of Rochelle.

The symposium is 7 to 9 p.m. April 30 in the Montgomery Hall auditorium. Ashley will be accompanied by weather and emergency management officials.
