NIU sent police, a 47-passenger bus and Huskie Safe Line vans to areas of northern Illinois hit by tornadoes on Thursday.

Fairdale, where two people were confirmed to have been killed, and Rochelle requested aid from NIU, according to a Friday news release from NIU President Doug Baker. Ten police and public safety personnel were sent, as were vans and a bus.

Public safety personnel were also present in residence halls and the Holmes Student Center, according to NIU.
