NIU Forensics placed second in the nation in its division at the March 13-15 Novice Nationals Tournament.

The team also picked up awards at the Intercollegiate Forensics Association State Tournament. Ben Donovan and Steven Cyhaniuk, who formed a debate team, were named state champions in Debate at the state tournament, which took place March 6-7. Julia Boyle also won the State Champion in Oratory at this event and will represent Illinois next month at the Interstate Oratorical Association contest.

Forensics also won three individual awards at the state competition and three at the national level.

“I am extremely proud of the team,” said Director of Forensics Lisa Roth. “They worked very hard to get to nationals and when they got there they performed.”
