Police make 6 arrests for drug, alcohol offenses during roadside safety check

Police recorded zero arrests for DUI and six arrests for other alcohol and drug offences during a St. Patrick’s Day roadside safety check in DeKalb.
The roadside safety check, which generated some controversy among locals, resulted in 27 arrests and citations, according to a news release from state police. There were two registration offenses, six driver’s license offenses, one occupant restraint offenses and six alcohol or drug arrests. There were 12 written warnings issued, according to police.
The traffic stop was conducted by state, DeKalb and NIU police during the late hours of March 17 and early hours of March 18 on Annie Glidden Road north of Route 38.
