City Council: Website proposal $36K over budget, terms to be negotiated
February 10, 2015
Aldermen and locals showed concern Monday at City Council over a city website update that proposes a cost $36,000 over budget.
The update would be used to align the website with regulations concerning the Americans with Disabilities Act. A proposed cost to partner with CivicPlus, a group dedicated to replacing local government websites, to build a website is about $36,000 over budget. The terms are going to be negotiated for a lower price.
Taxpayer money would pay for the costs, but city staff said it would not have a harsh effect on the next fiscal year.
The council also had a first reading for the Fire Safety Registration and Inspection Program ordinance, which would require commercial and industrial buildings to undergo safety checks every one to three years, depending on whether they pass inspection.
