NIU women’s golf: Huskies take 6th out of 16 at Islander Classic

Women’s golf took sixth place out of 16 teams Tuesday at the 2015 Islander Classic.

The Huskies carded a 634 (323, 311) for a 58-over par in the two-day tournament, Monday and Tuesday, at Corpus Christi Country Club in Corpus Christi, Texas. Lamar and Central Arkansas tied for first place, each scoring a 613 for a 37-over par.

They Huskies were coming off a first-place finish in the 2015 MAC Match Play Challenge Feb. 10 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. They return to action at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational 10 a.m. March 13-15 in Rio Verde, Ariz.

Tied for ninth: Junior Connie Ellett, 153 (77, 76) for nine over par

Tied for 19th: Sophomore Sydney Brickey, 156 (78, 78) for 12 over par

Tied for 41st: Junior Sam Coyne, 162 (84, 78) for 18 over par

Tied for 48th: Sophomore Lena Gautier, 163 (84, 79) for 19 over par

Tied for 80th: Senior Taylor Ellett, 179 (88, 91) for 35 over par
