Freshman runner Kelsey Hildreth became the second Huskie in the last three years to pick up a weekly track award from the MAC.

Hildreth was honored with the MAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week Award today after her performance Saturday at the Gene Edmonds Cup in West Lafayette, Ind.

In Hildreth’s track debut she broke the NIU 3K record with a time of 9:41.78. Her mark was .04 seconds better than the previous record, set by Alicja Czajka in 2005.

As a cross country runner during the fall semester, Hildreth broke the NIU 5K and 6K records. She was named an All-MAC and NCAA Midwest All-Region runner.
