Man in ski mask attempted to assault showering student: cops

Police are investigating the attempted assault of a female student who was showering when a man in a ski mask touched her arm, according to an NIU safety bulletin.

At 4:57 a.m. Sunday, an attempted assault on a female student was reported to have occurred on the third floor of Neptune East, according to the safety bulletin. The victim said she was in the shower of a third floor bathroom when the suspect approached the shower and grabbed her arm, according to the safety bulletin.

The woman “yelped” as she was grabbed and the suspect fled the scene, according to the safety bulletin.

The suspect was described by the victim as about 5-foot-6 with a medium build. He was wearing black clothes and a ski mask, according to the safety bulletin. The incident is being investigated and police are placing foot patrols in the Neptune Hall area.
