Pass: Trivia at Rec will connect students

The Recreation Center starting a trivia contest on Facebook is a great way to get students more involved with NIU.

Every Tuesday, the Rec’s Facebook page, on.fb.me/1Ja7g1P, will post trivia questions. The first person with a correct response receives a free water bottle or T-shirt.

The contest will give students something to look forward to and more opportunities to socialize. It may even get students to go to the Rec more often.

Students love free things, and being able to get it from the comfort of their computers is awesome. Everyone should be involved with this to support the Rec and the people who work there.

Fail: Icy sidewalks in need of salting

Wednesday was just another day of slippery DeKalb sidewalks, and it’s starting to get old.

The mornings are the worst: Getting up for a 10 a.m. class and starting my day with a faceplant into the snow is not my cup of tea. As the day goes on, though, salt starts to appear to keep my peers and I from sliding all over campus.

Why is it taking so long for the roads and sidewalks to get salted? The roads need to be salted right away to make the campus safe from morning to night.
