NIU wrestling: Shawn Scott ranked 3rd in MAC’s 197 weight class

Redshirt sophomore wrestler Shawn Scott is ranked third in the 197-pound weight class in the MAC’s second January wrestling rankings, released today.

Scott is ranked behind Missouri Tigers sophomore J’Den Cox and Ohio Bobcats junior Phil Wellington, who are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

Scott will face Wellington when the Huskies host the Bobcats 7 p.m. Friday at the Convocation Center. He’ll then face Cox, the defending national champion at 197 pounds, when the Huskies travel to the Tigers 1 p.m. Sunday in Columbia, Mo.

Scott is the only NIU wrestler ranked by the MAC.

As a team, the Huskies are ranked eighth out of nine teams with two points.
