Men’s soccer puts down Cougars

Men’s soccer used a quartet of goals to win its final non-conference game of the season.

The Huskies beat the Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Cougars, 4-1, Wednesday at the Soccer and Track & Field Complex.

The Huskies put in four consecutive goals, including three in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Sophomore defender Richard Hall put in the equalizer in the 28th minute after the Cougars took a 1-0 lead 1:26 earlier.

After halftime, freshman midfielder Len Heinson netted a pair of goals, the first off an assist by senior Isaac Kannah in the 51st minute and the second on a header in the 61st minute.

Sophomore defender Cody Witkowski scored the final goal of the game in the 70th minute off an assist by Kannah.

The Huskies return to conference play when they take on the Buffalo Bulls 8 p.m. Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y.
