Sport fall gear with varsity jackets

Men and women can incorporate varsity-style bomber jackets and beanies or hair accessories into preppy or sporty outfits this fall for a cool, edgy twist.

Keep it casual this week in varsity-inspired outerwear, comfy joggers and denim blues.

Some people think of fall as a time to wear plaid flannels, cozy sweaters, leather boots and blue denim. Stores usually clear out florals, neons and beach-inspired styles and replace them with grays, winter whites, reds, browns and other earth tones that remind customers of nature’s transition.

While DeKalb isn’t privileged with autumn weather long enough, people still have some time to show off their best fall gear.

Street fashion is more relaxed now, and it’s common to see trends cross between men’s and women’s styles. While comfy and casual pieces like varsity jackets, knit joggers and worn denim and blues are trendy in September, it’s important to remember casual and comfy styles aren’t an excuse to be lazy.

Joggers — sweatpant-like pants with drawstrings and banded ankle openings — are a cozy, sporty alternative to regular sweats, leggings and pants. They can be found in a number of materials ranging from knits to khaki and even leather. Joggers can be paired with grungy or military-style boots and beanies for an edgier look or with sneakers, hoodies and sweaters for a classic, preppy look.

Outerwear this season includes varsity jackets, worn or distressed denim jackets and soft, simple sweatshirts and hoodies. These are great because they can be paired with almost anything in your wardrobe to freshen it up and stay on trend.

The best part about these cool, casual trends is they give people a chance to play up other parts of one’s look. People can really stand out by trying a bold hairstyle, hat or hair accessory. I love wearing a simple, monochromatic black outfit and making it pop with a bright lip or bold eye makeup. These fall fashion trends make your creative opportunities endless.
