Bring cowboy hats, ’70s rock shirts to fall shows

By Lauren Iverson

From country superstars to small rock bands with faithful followings, there’s a concert out there for everyone this fall.

Garth Brooks: Sept. 4 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont

Brooks announced in December that for the first time in 10 years he’ll be touring the world. While the country singer has performed on several occasions since his retirement in 2001, he has not toured with the Garth Brooks band members in more than a decade. Brooks’ hits include “Friends in Low Places” and “Standing Outside the Fire.”

Journey: Sept. 10 at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park

It’s hard to find people who haven’t heard of “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The song has firepower that leaves listeners without the ability to stop singing along. Once the music starts, the words just flow. But to those stuck in the 21st century, this isn’t their only hit. Make sure to check out the songs “Open Arms,” “Faithfully” and “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’.” Because the band has been touring since the ’70s, my money says Journey will deliver a pretty strong show.

Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull: Oct 3 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont

These two powerhouse performers teamed up for a joint tour and will be one of the most popular concerts this semester. Pitbull is known for hits like “Feel This Moment” and “The Anthem.” He collaborates with Enrique Iglesias to bring a fun, upbeat and crazy quality that fans love. This concert will be a hair raunchier than your average Friday.

Demi Lovato: Oct. 11 at iWireless Center in Moline

Lovato got her start from Disney but has been making quite a name for herself in addition to music. Lovato has become an advocate for mental and physical health after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Lovato’s hits include “Give Your Heart a Break” and “Neon Lights.” Her music has a mix of dance and pop with a steady dose of deep lyrics.

Blue October: Nov. 22 at House of Blues in Chicago

This alternative rock band has been together since the ’90s. The group’s lyrics speak to the soul and leave listeners breathless. From a songs like “Into the Ocean” and “Hate Me,” this band has a unieque style with no two CDs sounding the same. This fall, they kick off the second leg of The Sway Tour.
