The city’s public library broke ground on its expansion Saturday.

The groundbreaking was set to feature games, food and drink and music from the Barb City Stompers.

During its expansion, the library will add a building and then renovate its existing location at 309 Oak St. for an estimated total cost of about $25.3 million. About 47,000 square feet will be added to the 19,000-square-foot building.
