$102.5 million in taxes to be divided

On June 27, DeKalb County Treasurer Christine J. Johnson made the second of six distribution of DeKalb County real estate taxes.
According to a press release by the DeKalb County Treasurer’s Office, Johnson said DeKalb has done these two distributions, prior to the law’s requirement of the first distribution, to assist taxing districts with their cash flow.
About $102.5 million, of the $204.9 million to be collected, has been distributed as follows:
$61.1 million to school districts,
$11.5 million to DeKalb County and Forest Preserve District,
$6.6 million to cities and villages,
$6.3 million to community colleges,
$4.3 million to townships and township road and bridge districts,
$4.3 million to TIF districts,
$3.5 million to park districts,
$2.2 million to libraries,
$2.1 million to fire districts
and $75,974 to drainage districts.
