UK professor joins NIU and Fermilab

Swapan Chattopadhay, director of the Cockcroft Institute in the United Kingdom, will join NIU and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory to work on accelerator reasearch and development beginning August 1.
As a member of the Cockcroft Institute faculty for seven years, Chattopadhay has worked with accelerators to promote education and advancement of particle, nuclear, synchrotron radiation and neutron sciences.
Chattopadhay also serves as the Sir John Cockcroft Chair of Physics at the Universities of Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster as well as an associate to the Harvard University Physics Department.
According to his resume, Chattopadhay has published more than 72 professional journals and delivered more than 143 invited talks worldwide.
