Northern Nights: Disney Drinks
May 4, 2014
Bringing Disney characters from our childhood into our drinks provides a fun twist to any night.
Disney movies pretty much ruled this generation’s childhood with classic movies like “The Lion King,” “Aladdin” and “Cinderella.” Now that most of us are of age to drink, we can take our favorite childhood characters and make signature drinks out of them.
The evil stepmother from “Cinderella” is one of those characters who is impossible to forget. Her signature drink has a chocolate-covered cherry flavor. To make this chocolate drink, use Godiva liqueur and wild cherry vodka. Add in a splash of grenadine and shake well. Pour into a chilled martini glass and drop in two maraschino cherries. This is perfect if you are looking for a smooth dinner drink that is not too sweet.
Belle from “Beauty and the Beast” is one Disney princess girls grew up with. For the inner girly girl drink, the Belle of the Ball, is absolutely perfect. It has a nutty flavor that is easy to drink and perfect for a dessert drink. Mix banana liqueur, Frangelico and a splash of RumChata. Avoid using too much RumChata or it will overpower the drink. Shake the mix well. In a chilled martini glass, pour chocolate syrup in a swirl formation to add a little design inside. Pour the drink and add some whipped cream and a cherry on top. The Belle of the Ball is a perfect dessert drink, but only if it counts as the dessert. Otherwise, it will be too much sweet for one sitting.
For those who prefer a more tropical taste, the Queen of Hearts is a fantastic option.
It has a slight Dreamsicle taste to it, but at the same time it’s tropical. This drink focuses on orange flavors with blood-orange vodka, citrus vodka, orange juice and a splash of cherry juice. This is the second-easiest of the three to prepare. All it takes it mixing the alcohol, pouring the mix into a chilled martini glass and adding a sliced orange to the side. It has a very vibrant, fruity flavor that goes well before or during dinner.
While all these drinks are technically drank out of martini glasses, the same instructions follow if desired to have as a basic drink.
