Public welcome at stargazing event

The Northwest Suburban Astronomers will host a public star party 8:30 p.m. May 31 at Afton Forest Preserve, 13600 Crego Road.

Attendees should dress for a cold night and bring a flashlight covered with red plastic or cellophane. Those who participate can use their own telescope or binoculars or they can use the organization’s telescopes.

The event is free and no registration is required. Those who attend should park in the main lot and walk to the west. The event will be canceled if there is inclement weather.
