Huskies set to face UIC

Men’s tennis will wrap up its non-conference schedule as it gears up for the last three games of the season.

The Huskies (15-5) will face off with the University of Illinois-Chicago Flames (3-8) 5 p.m. Tuesday in Chicago.

NIU has won nine of its last 11 matches and is riding a four-game winning streak.

The Flames have lost their last four matches and have yet to win at home this season, going 0-2. The Huskies have beaten the Flames in back-to-back seasons.

Head coach Patrick Fisher wants the team to have the same high level of play it’s had its last four matches.

“I really want our team to focus on getting after them quickly,” Fisher said. “Jump on them quick, just like these last few games, and get the win, then focus [on] Toledo.”

In doubles, Dor Amir and Axel Lagerlof will look to continue their strong doubles season. Amir and Lagerlof are 15-2 on the season. They will match up against Carl Hedstrom and Maurizio Feoli, who hold a three-game losing streak.

In singles, the No. 1 will play against the Flames’ Alexander Raa. Raa is on his own four-game losing streak, with his last win coming on March 2.

This is the Huskies’ last away game of the season. They will have two more matches at home — against conference opponents Toledo and Buffalo — before the MAC Tournament.
