An NIU staff member was found dead in Neptune West Wednesday.

DeKalb Fire Department, NIU police and paramedics responded just before noon to a report of an unconscious and unresponsive male. The incident is under investigation by NIU police and there does not appear to be foul play involved, said Paul Palian, director of media and public relations.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this person’s friends and family right now,” Palian said. “He will always be a part of the NIU family.”

Palian said grief counseling will be available to Neptune residents and staff members. Counseling can be set up through the residential hall personnel.
