No one was injured after a truck caught fire on Normal Road Sunday.

Jesus Rodriguez, 47, of DeKalb, said he was driving the vehicle when smoke starting coming from the hood.

“We were just driving home and we started smelling something,” Rodriguez said. “We stopped, we opened the hood and it lit fire.”

James Zarek, DeKalb Fire Department battalion chief, said the department received a call for a vehicle fire on Normal Road.

“When we arrived at the scene there was a fire in the engine compartment and the passenger compartment of the vehicle,” Zarek said.

Zarek said no one was inside the vehicle when it caught fire, and no injuries have been reported. Zarek said the source of the fire is unknown.

DeKalb Police Sgt. Mark Tehan said there won’t be much of an investigation.

“The owner will have it towed and the fire department will make sure everything is OK,” Tehan said.
