On Thursday, there was a social media explosion because of the rumor that Bill Nye was participating in a debate with creationist Ken Ham at 5:30 p.m. in Engineering Building 209.

It was a rumor that was supported by an incredibly misleading NIU calendar posting that failed to mention that the event was taking place in Kentucky and being live streamed to NIU.

For all the Northern students who got their hopes up and thought a childhood dream was coming true, I hope that events are more carefully examined before they are posted.
