Hallmon commits to NIU

By Northern Star Staff

Deion Hallmon, a three-star cornerback from Cypress Bay High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., confirmed his commitment to NIU Tuesday via his Twitter account.

Hallmon had offers from more than 50 schools, including Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, UCLA and Wisconsin.

The 6-foot, 175-pound cornerback is ranked as the No. 95 cornerback prospect in the country by ESPN, No. 66 by 247Sports and No. 46 by Rivals.

On the eve of National Signing Day, Hallmon joined an already strong class of recruits for the Huskies. The list now includes 20 recruits, one signed letter of intent and 19 verbal commitments, and a number of three-star recruits.

Hallmon had previously committed to Rutgers and Syracuse, but reopened his recruiting, leading to his commitment to NIU.
