LGBT, Women’s Resource centers merge on Normal

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center has recently moved.

The new location, 105 Normal Road, is in the Women’s Resource Center. During the spring semester the two will share the building.

The move was finalized after Molly Holmes, LGBT Resource Center director, was assigned to merge with the Women’s Resourse Center.

Holmes believes having LGBT and the Women’s Resource Center together will be able to offer more support.

“The combined units will allow the dedicated staff to continue to uphold traditions while looking ahead to engaging new populations, content and collaborative opportunities on campus, state and national levels,” Holmes said, according to NIU Today.

Holmes leads the staffs of both centers in a strategic planning process.

The end goal for combining the two organizations will be to offer more opportunities for the two to collaborate and reflect the gender and sexual orientation inclusive campus.
