Stay chic, warm with accessories
December 2, 2013
The weather outside might be frightful, but your accessories don’t have to be. Students can stay warm and chic this month with these trendy pieces.
Scarves
Even though people wear scarves all year round, summer ones are limited to the thin and not-really-doing-anything-except-looking-cute kind.
This week, try a thick cable-knit scarf to keep out the cold weather.
Infinity scarves are a great multifunction piece. You can wear these trendy scarves to keep warm or as a nice add-on to your favorite outfit.
Hats
Hats are a great winter accessory because of their diversity.
Students can look like a lumberjack with a-fur lined hat that will keep them so warm they might overheat.
Animal hats are always fun, too. Yes, I’m talking about the ones Ke$ha rocks, which have ears and paws attached.
When it’s not too cold, a simple beanie is a good go-to option that looks great and comes many colors.
Gloves
There are so many options for your fingers to stay nice and toasty while walking outside.
Fingerless gloves make you look like a fighter.
Convertible gloves look like mittens but fold back, and your fingers are free to do whatever your heart desires.
Regular mittens take you back to your youth.
Tech-savvy gloves allow you to use your smartphone while keeping your fingers warm.
Boots
Footwear is the most important part of an outfit.
Men don’t have as many chic boot options as women. Instead of duck boots, pull off some black leather boots. Just remember to weatherize those stylish kicks.
If women want to wear an UGG style of boot, just remember in Australia, where they are regularly worn, the boots are made for the beach. UGG boots are not meant for the Midwest slushy mess that we have to deal with during the winter.
Instead, go for a smarter option like a riding boot.
Always make sure to weatherize your boots if you want them to last in the winter.
