Lynch headed to New York as Heisman finalist

Jordan Lynch is officially headed to New York for the Heisman ceremony.

The redshirt senior quarterback joins Jameis Winston, Johnny Manziel, AJ McCarron, Tre Mason and Andre Williams as a finalist for the 2013 Heisman Award, which is given to the most valuable player in college football.

The six finalists are the most invited to New York since 1994.

Lynch, who led NIU to a 12-0 perfect regular season record, finished in last year’s Heisman voting in seventh place and was expected to be the solid No. 2 pick before the Huskies’ loss in the MAC Championship to Bowling Green.

The winner will be announced Saturday.
