Enjoy Thanksgiving movies, TV episodes

Whether recovering from a huge meal or avoiding setting the table, these movies and shows are perfect for Thanksgiving.

“Planes, Trains and Automobiles”

Steve Martin and John Candy are a hilarious Thanksgiving duo. This movie is about Martin’s character, Neal, who struggles to get home in time for Thanksgiving after his flight is cancelled.

Against his better judgment, Neal decides to make the journey home with Del, played by Candy. The two are polar opposites and bicker the whole trip.

My favorite part is when Del drives late at night and falls asleep at the wheel only to wake up before getting into an accident. This movie will have you laughing from its start to the heart-warming ending.

“Friends”

This 10-season comedy made a name for itself for great holiday episodes. The cast nailed Thanksgiving showings year after year. In the 1997 Thanksgiving episode, Chandler is forced stay in a box all day after Joey finds out Chandler kissed his girlfriend.

Another hilarious and memorable “Friends” Thanksgiving came in season eight. Brad Pitt plays Will, Ross’ friend from high school. Will hated Rachel so much in high school, he created the “I Hate Rachel Green Club” and told everyone she had male and female reproductive organs.

I love that Rachel tries to impress the gang and makes a trifle, or at least something she thinks is a trifle. She accidently adds meat to the dessert, and the group pretends to love it.

“Addams Family Values”

They might be creepy and kooky, but the Addams are a great family. Even though the film doesn’t revolve around the holiday, the Thanksgiving play scene easily makes this list.

The performance of Wednesday and Pugsley Addams during the Thanksgiving play, which is held at a summer camp, is hysterical. Wednesday plays Pocahontas and finally gets her revenge on the camp bully.

The brother, sister and band of misfits join together and ruin the set the popular kids have spent all summer making.
