Police locate Shell armed robbery suspect

Police are extraditing Lutha T. Wallace from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after a Tuesday armed robbery at Shell Station, 308 N. Seventh St.
According to police, a man approached the Shell Station cashier, jumped over the counter and demanded money while armed with a handgun at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The man ran away after getting money.
Using evidence from the scene, video surveillance, community assistance and investigation, police learned Wallace was the alleged robber. Clothing and a gun were recovered during investigation. A warrant was issued for his arrest for armed robbery (class X felony) and aggravated robbery (class 1 felony) with a bond at $750,000.
Police learned Wallace had fled to Cedar Rapids. They met with officers from the town and found Wallace, who will be extradited to Illinois.
