Finding women’s sportswear that isn’t coated with 6 inches of glitter isn’t always easy.

Here are a few ideas on how to rock women’s sportswear for this weekend’s football game. Now, I am not trying to put down glittered sports T’s. What I am talking about are actual jerseys and shirts for women who don’t just want a shirt for fashion but for the women who like men’s clothing and jerseys.

“I like guys’ sportswear better because the women items seem to have a lot of glitter or sequins on them and I don’t like it much,” said Megan Sheley, senior elementary education major. “Most of the time I go to actual sports stores either at the stadiums or order them online.”

There’s no shame in liking flowered shirts or the pink jerseys; however, if you are a huge fan of sports, you want a jersey with your team’s colors on it. But if you’re supporting breast cancer awareness month, rock the pink.

There are a number of places to find women’s sports apparel. When shopping, consider buying men’s jerseys in smaller sizes to fit your taste.

This could also be a helpful gift idea for those dating sports fans.

“I would probably go to Champs Sports at Woodfield Mall,” said Griffin Curcio, senior corporate communications major.

Students don’t need to go shop at sport stores for a stylish jersey.

“For cute stuff, I definitely go to Victoria’s Secret,” said sophomore child development major Macy Grimm. “But the really girly sportswear with a lot of sparkles and stuff is kind of cheesy. If it has a little, it is cute but it’s sports so it should be the teams colors.”

I went to NFL.com and checked out sports apparel and jerseys. Fortunately, it seemed to have changed to be more gender-neutral so not every women’s jersey or shirt has a cheesy look to it.

When it comes to buying jerseys, I recommend shopping at NFL.com or other professional sites like MLB.com and NBA.com. These sites offer authentic clothing that can be worn every season and to every game you attend.

When it comes to a cute sports top or hoodie, I would recommend Victoria’s Secret. This clothing would be good for just going to class or a lazy day.

“I also like to sportswear at Dick’s Sporting Goods,” said Kayla Rowling junior textiles, apparel and merchandising major. “As far as Northern sports apparel, the Village Commons Bookstore on campus has a lot to offer.”
