Six members of the softball team were named 2013 National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athletes.

Kaitlyn Barrett, Kristyn Barrett, Jennifer Barnett, Ashley Kopp, Shelby Miller and Amanda Sheppard all received the recognition on Wednesday.

Barnett and Sheppard ended their careers at NIU last season while the Barrett sisters are in their junior year, and Kopp and Miller are seniors.

NIU is in the middle of its fall schedule and will take on the Wisconsin Badgers in a doubleheader Sept. 29. The first game starts at 1 p.m. and the second game will start at 3 p.m.
