Reuse-a-Palooza to encourage environment awareness

By Katie Finlon

This weekend will be all about making the world a better place through music and recycled materials.

Green Paws Environmental Alliance, a student go-green group, will host its third Reuse-a-Palooza 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at the House Cafe, 263 E. Lincoln Highway.

The Ellevens will headline the music act for the event. Other bands scheduled to perform are Nova Trio, Alexis & the Samurai and Annalee and the Midnight Sons.

Joseph Dzwonnik, junior business marketing major and member of The Ellevens, said the show will give audience members opportunities to be environmentally friendly through things like remaking old shirts into something new.

“It’s more of a little show party that is also celebrating recycling,” Dzwonnik said. “They aren’t really distracting with anything else.”

The event will feature recycled work of artists and vendors selling multi-purpose items like trays made out of aluminum soda cans. Ban the Bottle, a movement to reduce the usage of plastic water bottles, will have a petition signing at the House Cafe.

The cover charge for the event is $5. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page at on.fb.me/XY9ybt.
