Tuesday
At 8:39 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to an NIU office at Fermilab in Batavia in regard to a report of deception. Officers met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
Wednesday
At 1:37 p.m. on March 29, an officer on patrol of the Stevenson complex made contact with an individual in regard to a report of harassment. The officer took a report from the complainant. On Wednesday, this case was closed at the request of the complainant.
At 12:31 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Stevenson Towers North in regard to a report of cannabis. The officers made contact with the individual in the room in question. The individual was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 12:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to DuSable Hall in regard to a report of battery. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the two individuals involved in the incident. Both individuals were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for battery.
At 12:46 p.m., an officer was dispatched to DuSable Hall in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 2:40 p.m., an officer made contact with a complainant in regard to unlawful use of a credit card. The officer took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 4:39 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. Later in the day, the complainant recovered its property. This case is closed, unfounded.
At 10:58 p.m., an officer on patrol of University Heights made contact with two individuals in regard to cannabis. The individuals were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 11:11 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Northern View Apartments in regard to a report of cannabis. The officer arrived on scene and investigated. During the investigation, the officers determined the report to be unfounded.
At 11:28 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Stevenson Towers North in regard to a report of cannabis. The officer arrived on the scene and investigated. During the investigation the officer determined the report to be unfounded.
Thursday
At 12:59 a.m. on Feb. 23, an officer on patrol of Grant Towers North made contact with an individual in regard to a report of theft. The officer took a report. Further investigation led to the identity of the offender in this case. Rahien J. Clark, 18, was arrested on a warrant for theft. Clark was transported and processed at the NIU Police Department. After posting $300 bond, Clark was released.
At 3:49 p.m. on April 1, an officer on patrol of Stevenson Towers North made contact with an individual in regard to a report of theft. The officer took a report. On Thursday, the complainant located his item. This case is unfounded.
At 2:40 a.m., an officer on patrol of Neptune West initiated an investigated in regard to cannabis. During the investigation, the officer determined the report to be unfounded.
At 2:52 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.
At 9:15 p.m., an officer made contact with an individual in regard to a report of assault in Neptune Central. The officer took a report and initiated an investigation. Derrica S. Ruskin Hicks, 18, was arrested for assault. Ruskin Hicks was transported and processed at the NIU Police Department. After posting $120 bond, Ruskin Hicks was released.
At 11:30 p.m., an officer on patrol of the 900 block of Greenbrier Road made contact with an individual who was under 21 and in possession of alcohol. The individual was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
