Born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi in a Cleveland suburb, Kid Cudi’s career began after he moved to Brooklyn and signed with Fool’s Gold, the label of DJs A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs.

The label released Kid Cudi’s single “Day ‘n’ Nite” in Feb. 2008; a Crookers remix later made its way around the blogosphere.

After that, Kid Cudi received significant media attention. Rolling Stone placed him among the magazine’s Top Five best indie hip-hop artists of 2008. Not long after the release of the single, Kid Cudi began to tour with the Fool’s Gold collective.

After the remixed “Day ‘n’ Nite” climbed the U.K. singles charts, Kid Cudi released his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day in the summer of 2009. He returned with a sequel a year later, Man on the Moon, Vol. 2: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

Kid Cudi teamed with “Day ‘n’ Nite” producer Dot Da Genius in 2012 and formed their rock-rap band, WZRD. A self-titled album was released the same year.
