Coach Dave Doeren was named one of 16 semifinalists for the 2012 Maxwell Football Club Collegiate Coach of the Year Award.

This season, Doeren has led the Huskies to a record of 10-1 and 7-0 in MAC play. After an opening season loss to Iowa at Soldier Field, Doeren and the Huskies have rattled off 10 straight victories.

The Huskies’ 10-game winning streak is tied for the longest in a single season in the schools history.

With its victory over Toledo, NIU earned itself its third straight trip to the MAC Championship game and its second under Doeren. The win over Toledo also jumped the Huskies into The Associated Press Top-25 poll at No. 24 and the USA Today poll at No. 23.

Doeren has also helped lead the Huskies to their 21-game home winning streak and a 15-game winning streak against MAC opponents.

In Doeren’s two season’s at NIU, he has a total record of 21-4.

Other notable coaches up for the award are Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, Oregon’s Chip Kelly, Ohio State’s Urban Meyer and Kansas State’s Bill Snyder. Darrell Hazell of Kent State from the MAC was also nominated for the award.
