Blotter 10/18 – 10/20

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Thursday
Between 7 and 8 a.m., officers responded to Double Bubble Coin Laundry, 850 Pappas Drive, in regard to a complaint of criminal damage to property. The complainant advised that she had put her clothes in a washing machine and left for one hour. When she returned, she found that her clothes had been put into a basket and laundry soap had been poured over them. The complainant advised that she had tried to use the bathroom during that time but it was locked. Officers believe that it is possible that the unknown suspect is living in the bathroom as the business is open 24 hours a day. A blanket and socks were located in the bathroom. There are no suspects at this time.
At 8:30 a.m., officers reported to DeKalb Public Library, 309 Oak St., in regard to a suspicious person. The complainant reported that she had met a suspicious person the day prior. The complainant and the subject had an extended conversation and they had agreed to meet for lunch. The complainant was given the subject’s business card and cellphone number. That evening, the complainant began receiving strange texts. The complainant became concerned and researched the subject’s name. She discovered the subject was a convicted stalker and had recently been convicted in Kane County of violating a court order of protection. An investigation has been started.
At 7:29 p.m., officers ran a registration check on a blue Ford traveling southbound near 600 N. Annie Glidden Road. The registered owner, Jonathan J. Green, 29, was found to possess a revoked driver’s license. Following a traffic stop, Green was arrested, transported to DCPD, booked and released on bond.
At 9:55 p.m., officers cited Joseph A. Ybarra, 26, at 1504 State St. for the possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 10:29 p.m., officers arrived at an Eden’s Garden residence in regard to a report of domestic trouble. The suspect, Stephen Sanders, 29, advised that he and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument regarding money. Sanders had direct deposited a paycheck into his girlfriend’s account, but it was taken by the bank to repay money owed by the girlfriend to the bank. Sanders wanted to take property from his girlfriend as leverage. He had then taken her car and parked it down the street. His girlfriend wanted him arrested for theft. Sanders was arrested for driving with a revoked license, transported to DCPD, booked and transported to DeKalb County Jail.
Friday
At 2:20 a.m., officers observed a vehicle driving erratically near 1000 W. Lincoln Highway. Following a traffic stop, Joshua C. Brothers, 27, was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest. Cannabis and drug paraphernalia were located in Brothers’ car. Brothers was transported to DCPD, booked and released on bond.
At 5:54 p.m., Desmond Hams, 23, arrived at DCPD to turn himself in on an active warrant. Hams was booked and released on bond.
At 8:00 p.m., officers arrived at a Seventh Street residence in regard to a report of domestic battery. The suspect, Mason J. Lovell, was arrested, transported to DCPD, booked and transported to DeKalb County Jail.
Saturday
At 1:25 a.m., officers were flagged down in the area of 1100 Blackhawk Road. The complainant advised that two individuals had robbed him and his friend. The complainant provided descriptions of the suspects, and officers located the suspects. James D. Black, 18, and Darius J. Fizer, 21, were located and arrested for armed robbery. An investigation was started.
At 1:55 a.m., officers reported to Lord Stanley’s, 142 E. Lincoln Highway, in regard to a fight. The victim had been in a verbal altercation with three suspects, and one of the suspects battered her. A witness advised that he had seen the altercation occur, and an investigation was started.
At 2:48 a.m., officers observed a vehicle make an illegal left turn. The driver, Stephanie M. Smith, 23, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and cannabis was located in the vehicle. Smith was arrested, transported to DCPD, booked and released on bond.
