Tuesday
At 9:30 a.m., an officer was sent to Douglas Hall in regard to a report of theft from a motor vehicle. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 3:50 p.m., an officer was sent to Still Gym in regard to a report of criminal defacement. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 3:50 p.m., an officer was sent to the Emergency Management and Planning Building in regard to a complaint of criminal sexual assault. The assault was reported to have occurred at the New Residence Hall Complex West. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case closed due to a lack of cooperation from the complainant.
At 6:30 p.m., an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department in regard to a person who had an active warrant for their arrest for disorderly conduct. The officer arrived on scene and took Lyndell O. Newman, 30, of DeKalb, into custody. Newman was processed at the NIU Police Department and sent to the DeKalb County jail.
At 7:20 p.m., an officer was sent to the Campus Recreation Center in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.
At 7:29 p.m., an officer was sent to Neptune Hall North in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
At 10:03 p.m., an officer was sent to Gable Hall in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
At 10:04 p.m., an officer on patrol in Douglas Hall met with a person in regard to a report of cannabis. The meeting resulted in the person being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis.
