According to an NIU Today article, the NIU Foundation has a new president: Mike Malone.

Malone is a veteran administrator at NIU and the vice president for the Division of University Advancement. His new position as president will be an added responsibility, according to NIU Today.

This will be Malone’s second time as president of the foundation. He was president for two years in 1998 and 1999, according to NIU Today.

The previous president, Mallory Simpson, left NIU to assume the position of vice chancellor at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and to be closer to family.

According to NIU Today, Malone said there are no plans to search for a replacement for Simpson. Time will be spent on figuring out how to staff the Foundation and use resources to increase fundraising efforts for students and faculty, he said.

Malone is working with NIU President John Peters and Foundation board chair Dennis Barsema to explore how university advancement can help bring in more alumni support for the university, according to NIU Today.

Malone announced the promotion of Joe Matty as associate vice president of university advancement. Matty will be in charge of the Office of Alumni Relations and act as executive director of the Alumni Association, according to NIU Today.
