Stage Coach Players present ‘The Dining Room’ Saturday, Sunday

By Sarah Contreras

The Stage Coach Players are performing A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room, directed by NIU’s own David Booth, 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stage Coach Theatre, 126 S. Fifth St. Tickets are $12.

A “comedy of manners,” The Dining Room offers glimpses into the lives of 18 different households whom, throughout the years, come to use the same dining room set. Each separate vignette features a different family, weaving the story of the vanishing culture of upper middle class Americans. With over 50 characters played by only six actors, The Dining Room is humorous, delicate and deeply human.
