The trial for Jack McCullough, 72, begins Monday at the Kane County Judicial Center. McCullough is accused of kidnapping and murdering Maria Ridulph, 7, in 1957. On Dec. 3, Ridulph and a friend were playing at the corner of Center Cross Street and Archie Place when McCullough allegedly asked the girls if they wanted a piggyback ride. Allegedly, Ridulph’s friend went home to get mittens and when she returned, Ridulph and McCullough were gone. Ridulph’s skeletal remains were found five months later along Route 20 in Jo Daviess County.
