Phones, batteries, accessories collected for Domestic Violence Awareness month
September 24, 2012
Victim Advocacy Services (VAS) at the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) will team up with the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program for October Domestic Violence Awareness month, according to a WRC press release. The Verizon Wireless HopeLine program uses wireless phones that are no longer used to support for victims and survivors of domestic violence, according to the WRC. Cellphones can serve as a link to emergency or support services in times of crisis.
The VAS is collecting wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition from any wireless service provider, according to the WRC. Drop-box locations for the materials are located at the WRC at 105 Normal Road. Another drop-box location is the office of Kelly Phelan with VAS at the WRC.
The VAS staff will be traveling around campus during specific dates, like Oct. 19, to collect phones from offices and departments.
